Cradle Cap
Cradle cap is a harmless, common skin condition in babies. Traditional herbs can help soften flakes, soothe skin, and ease irritation — just as they were once used by mothers and healers long ago.
Marigold - Historically valued for its skin-soothing properties. Infused oil may be massaged lightly into baby’s scalp to soften scales.
Chamomile - Calming and anti-itch. A mild chamomile tea rinse that may help reduce irritation.
Aloe Vera (gel) - Cooling, moisturising and may help soften flakes. Use a tiny amount, very gently massaged in.
Lavender (infusion or very diluted oil in carrier) - Antimicrobial and calming. May help reduce irritation and bring a soothing scent.
Oat Straw - Moisturising and barrier restoring. Oat tea or oat-infused oil may be applied to ease dryness.
How to Use:
- Apply a gentle herbal oil (like calendula- or chamomile-infused almond/olive oil) to the scalp.
- Leave on for 15–20 minutes to soften flakes.
- Gently brush with a soft baby brush to lift away loosened scales.
- Wash with mild warm water or a gentle baby shampoo if needed.
Precautions!
- Always patch test first.
- Avoid strong essential oils on babies.
- Use very diluted or infusion-based remedies, not concentrated extracts.
- If cradle cap is persistent, spreading, or irritated → seek medical advice.
